Montreux and the Narcissus

For more than a century, Narcissus flowers, aka “the May Snow”, have been the symbol of Montreux. Indeed, the flowering of the narcissi in May is an important attraction of the year: millions of white flowers covering entire meadows, give the illusion that the snow regained possession of the high fields in May.

Origin

The name of this flower comes from the myth of the young man known as Narcissus who fell in love with his own reflection due to his immense beauty. The first Narcissus flowers sprung up around the pool where he drowned due to his obsession with himself. Nowadays this flower is used in different field such as in cosmetics for its multiple virtues.
